Escape the city and discover the spectacular landscapes of north-western Slovenia. This journey through the Julian Alps combines peaceful mountain lakes, Slovenia’s legendary centre of ski jumping, a beautiful Alpine valley and remarkable emerald-green springs. Along the way, there will be plenty of time to explore the surroundings, enjoy the fresh mountain air and capture some unforgettable photos.

LAKE JASNA

Our first stop will be Lake Jasna, located beneath the dramatic peaks of the Julian Alps near Kranjska Gora.

Take a walk around the lake, relax beside its clear turquoise water or capture a photo with the famous statue of Zlatorog, the mythical golden-horned ibex from Slovenian folklore. The lake is also known for its beautiful reflections of the surrounding mountains, making it one of the most photogenic locations in the region. With its peaceful atmosphere and spectacular Alpine backdrop, Lake Jasna is the perfect place to begin our adventure.

PLANICA AND TAMAR VALLEY

We will then continue to Planica, one of Slovenia’s most famous sporting landmarks and a world-renowned centre of ski jumping and ski flying.

You will see the impressive ski jumping hills where numerous historic achievements and world records have taken place. Those looking for a challenge can climb towards the top of the ski jumping hill and experience the remarkable view seen by professional athletes before they launch into the air.

From Planica, we will continue into the picturesque Tamar Valley, surrounded by towering peaks such as Mojstrovka, Travnik and Jalovec. At the end of the valley, the Tamar mountain hut offers a welcoming place to rest, enjoy refreshments and admire the dramatic mountain scenery.

ZELENCI NATURE RESERVE

Our final stop will be the Zelenci Nature Reserve, known for its remarkable emerald-green springs and peaceful wetland landscape.

A wooden boardwalk leads through the protected area to the crystal-clear pools, surrounded by forests and mountain peaks. The water maintains a constant temperature of approximately 6°C throughout the year, which means that the springs never freeze, even during the coldest winter months. Zelenci is also the source of the Sava Dolinka, one of the two main branches that form the River Sava. Its distinctive colour, unique ecosystem and beautiful natural surroundings make it a memorable final stop on our Alpine journey.

Join us for a day filled with fresh mountain air, spectacular views and some of the most beautiful natural scenery Slovenia has to offer. We will return to Ljubljana in the late afternoon.
