Trip to Belgrade

October 31, 2026

History, hilltop views and hearty Serbian food — discover the best of Belgrade in one unforgettable trip! 🏰🍖

Two days, one capital city, and a whole lot of history, culture and good food. Join us on a 2-day trip to Belgrade, the capital of Serbia – a city where old and new sit side by side, from grand historical landmarks to a buzzing modern nightlife scene. ✨

1st DAY (Ljubljana – Belgrade)

We leave Ljubljana early in the morning and travel through Serbia’s countryside towards Belgrade. Once we arrive and meet our local guide, our first stop is the House of Flowers, the resting place of Josip Broz Tito, former president of Yugoslavia. Part of the Museum of Yugoslavia, it’s a fascinating starting point for understanding the region’s more recent history. 🚌

From there, we continue to Avala Hill, home to the Avala Tower – a symbol of Serbian resilience with panoramic views over the whole city – as well as the Monument to the Unknown Hero, dedicated to Serbian soldiers who died in the First World War. 🏛️

Next, we visit the striking Church of Saint Sava, one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world, known for its huge white marble façade and vast interior. ⛪ After that, we check into our accommodation in Belgrade. 🏨

The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore freely. We recommend a walk down Knez Mihailova Street, Belgrade’s main pedestrian zone, lined with elegant old buildings, shops and cafés. It’s also the perfect time to try Serbian classics like ćevapi, sarma or Karađorđeva šnicla. Feeling like nightlife? Belgrade is famous for its floating river clubs on the Sava and Danube, known for great music and an even better atmosphere. 🎶

2nd DAY (Belgrade – Ljubljana)

In the morning, we take a guided walking tour of the city centre and Kalemegdan Fortress, one of Belgrade’s most important historical sites, sitting right where the Danube and Sava rivers meet. We’ll explore its ancient walls, the Victor Monument, Zindan Gate, and Dorćol, one of the oldest parts of the city, still carrying traces of both Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian influence. 🏰

After the tour, you’ll have some free time to soak up more of Belgrade’s atmosphere – relax in a riverside café, browse local artisan shops, or head to Skadarlija, the city’s old bohemian quarter, known for its traditional taverns, cobbled streets and live music. 🍷

In the afternoon, we begin the journey back to Ljubljana, taking with us two days’ worth of history, culture and stories to tell. 🚍
