Trip to Venice
November 7, 2026
Gondolas, grand palaces and not a single car in sight — welcome to Venice. 🛶
Venice is unlike anywhere else — a city built across more than 100 small islands, held together by winding canals and countless bridges. No cars, no rush, just narrow streets, grand old palaces and water at every turn. 🌊 It’s the kind of place that’s genuinely hard to compare to anything else in Europe.
Early in the morning, we depart by bus from Ljubljana towards Punta Sabbioni, where we board a boat across the Venetian lagoon straight into the heart of the city, St Mark’s Square. 🚌⛴️
From there, you’ll have free time to explore at your own pace — wander past the Doge’s Palace and the Bridge of Sighs, step inside St Mark’s Basilica, or walk over to the Rialto Bridge and the market around it, one of the best places to get a feel for the everyday atmosphere of the city. Keep your camera ready — Venice photographs beautifully at almost every corner. 📸
For those who want to see more, we also offer an optional boat tour to the islands of Murano and Burano (extra cost, payable on the trip). Murano is known for centuries of glassmaking tradition, and we’ll visit a workshop to watch artisans shape glass by hand. Burano, meanwhile, is famous for its brightly coloured houses lining the canals — one of the most photogenic spots in the whole lagoon. 🎨🏠
In the late afternoon, we say goodbye to Venice and head back to Ljubljana, arriving in the evening. 🌅
St. Mark’s Square (Piazza San Marco)
The heart of Venice, surrounded by some of its most famous sights. St Mark’s Basilica dominates the square with its Byzantine architecture and detailed mosaics, while the Campanile bell tower offers great views over the city’s rooftops, canals and the lagoon beyond.

The Grand Canal
Venice’s main waterway, lined with grand old palaces and historic buildings. Whether by vaporetto (water bus) or gondola, a trip along the Grand Canal is one of the best ways to take in the city’s architecture — passing under bridges like the Rialto and the Accademia along the way.

Rialto Bridge
One of the most recognisable landmarks in Venice, spanning the Grand Canal and connecting two of the city’s busiest districts. Around it sits the Rialto Market, full of fresh produce, seafood and local goods — a great spot to see everyday Venetian life up close.

Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale)
Next to St Mark’s Basilica, this Gothic palace was once the seat of Venetian government. Its grand halls and chambers are decorated with works by painters like Tintoretto and Veronese, and it’s connected to the old prison by the famous Bridge of Sighs.

The Bridge of Sighs
A small, elegant bridge with a dramatic backstory — its name comes from the sighs of prisoners crossing it for one last look at Venice before entering the prison on the other side. Simple, striking, and one of the most photographed spots in the city.

Gondolas and Canals
No trip to Venice feels complete without seeing its gondolas glide through the canals. Gondoliers steer their boats through the narrow waterways with real skill, offering a slower, closer look at the city’s architecture and quieter corners away from the main squares.
