Trip to Graz and Maribor

April 4, 2026

Discover elegant Graz with its iconic Schlossberg views 🏰, stroll along the Drava river in charming Maribor 🍷 and enjoy a relaxed spring day full of culture, history and vibrant atmosphere. 🌸

In springtime, visit the second-largest city in Austria as well as the second-largest city in Slovenia – Graz and Maribor. Their charming old towns, both recognised for their cultural and historical significance, come alive with blooming flowers, open-air cafés, and a lively street atmosphere. The trip features an easy drive and plenty of free time for independent sightseeing, exploring local landmarks, and enjoying the relaxed spring ambience in both cities.

We will set off in the morning hours, arriving in the capital of Austrian Styria by mid-morning. Upon arrival, we will first take a stroll through the charming city centre. We will see the main square, the oldest bakery, the Habsburg palace, and continue to the Styrian Regional Assembly building. We will also ascend the Schlossberg hill, offering beautiful panoramic views of the city’s red rooftops and surrounding green landscape. Spring gives the city a special charm – parks and courtyards are in bloom, and the relaxed rhythm of the season invites us to slow down and enjoy the surroundings. After the guided tour, there will be free time to explore the city individually, visit cafés, browse boutiques and local shops, or simply enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the old town.

In the afternoon, we will depart towards Slovenia and make a stop in the centre of Maribor. We will take a pleasant walk through the old town, along the Drava river and the picturesque Lent district. There will be some free time to enjoy a coffee, taste local specialities or simply soak up the relaxed spring atmosphere before returning home in the evening hours.

GRAZ

Graz, the capital of Styria and Austria’s second-largest city, combines a UNESCO-listed old town of medieval streets and Renaissance architecture with a vibrant modern atmosphere. The hill of Schlossberg, crowned by the iconic Clock Tower (Uhrturm), offers panoramic views over the city, especially beautiful in spring when markets, terraces, and surrounding hills come to life.

MARIBOR

Maribor, Slovenia’s second-largest city, lies between the Pohorje hills and the vineyards along the Drava river and is known for its relaxed atmosphere and strong wine tradition. The charming Lent district and the world’s oldest grapevine highlight its rich heritage, while in spring the riverside promenades and squares come alive, creating a pleasant and welcoming stop on our journey home.
